THE headteacher of a Worcester secondary school is to step down after more than 10 years in the role.

Julie Farr, head of Bishop Perowne Church of England College in Merriman’s Hill Road has announced she will leave the role in April next year.

Ms Farr has worked at the school for 23 years and was made headteacher in 2004.

In a letter to parents chairman of the school’s governors Robert Kington said: “It is difficult to imagine the college without her presence.

“Ms Farr has indicated to me that she wishes to undertake certain voluntary roles and one must applaud the self-sacrifice that this will involve,” he said.

“There will be ample opportunity before the end of the spring term for staff, parents and governors to express their appreciated of Ms Farr’s work within Bishop Perowne and I look forward to receiving your support on this occasion.”

He added the governors are working with the Diocesan Board of Education to appoint a new headteacher and parents would be informed of any decision at a future date.
