A YOUNG man has been airlifted to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Evesham this morning.

The incident happened in Cypress Close off the A46 at around 10.15am.

The 23-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after suffering a suspected facial fracture, although the injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

A responder paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham air base attended the scene along with the police.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man, upon assessment, was found to have sustained a suspected fracture to his cheekbone and also had a low blood pressure reading. The man, who had remarkably escaped more serious injury, was given pain relief and immobilised as a precaution due to the nature of the incident.”

The road was closed for around three hours but has since reopened.
