PEOPLE are invited to join in with a walk to shine a light on a local charity.

The Acorns Children's Hospice lantern walk takes place on Saturday, October 11 at Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham.

Matthew Reddy, managing director of walk sponsors First Personnel, said: “We are very proud once again to have the opportunity to sponsor the walk this year.

“Our staff and clients are really looking forward to the event to help raise vital funds for Acorns, on what will be a fantastic day out for all the family.”

Starting and finishing by the bandstand in Cannon Hill Park, the area will be filled with stalls, games, refreshments and entertainment from 1pm.

As part of a £5 registration fee, each participant will be given a battery operated orange lantern that are all turned on as the walk begins at 3pm.

Along the 10km route, walkers will visit Acorns Children’s Hospice in Selly Oak and return to Cannon Hill via the University of Birmingham.

There is also a 5km route that incorporates two laps of the park.
