PLANS for five new homes in Yarpole were approved by council planners last week.
Leominster-based G P Thomas and Son sought permission to demolish an existing dwelling and erect five detached homes with new access, garages and parking on land at Green Lane Cottage.
The application drew support from a number of members, including Councillor Peter McCaull.
"Five houses on this site, to me, is a gradual growth. We don't want all affordable semi-detached houses. We need choice," he said.
"This is a local building company, employing local labour. This company do a first class standard of work. I think it fits in with the village – a balance between the old and the new."
Councillors voted to approve the application, with conditions that further consultation was carried out between the developer, various local bodies and ward member in regard to the design.
