A KIDDERMINSTER church is appealing to the community to help prepare the venue for its Remembrance Day service on November 9.
Members of Holy Innocents’ Church’s congregation want local residents to bring First World War memorabilia with them.
The church members are looking for medals, photos, postcards and letters from the front lines, which will be on display alongside 300 knitted poppies – 100 around the font, 100 down the aisle and 100 at the altar steps.
Heather Prangley, church member, said: “There will be no sermon during the service. That time will be available for people to say a few words about their items if they wish – to provide a personal touch.
“If you would rather not speak, you might like to write a few words of explanation about what you bring.”
Heather said the church members are also looking to carry out a letter drop around the local community to make residents aware of the special service and to encourage them to bring along wartime treasures.
