A WELL-known cleaning guru took time out of her busy schedule to lend a helping hand to a Worcestershire charity.

Aggie MacKenzie, the star of television shows House Clean is Your House? and Storage Hoarders, paid a visit to Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter (WARS) in Malvern last Friday after the charity was selected by a local company to receive a deep clean.

Spontex, based on the Shire Business Park in Warndon Villages, launched a campaign to find a charity they could help out with a clean and cleaning products.

Following a public vote, WARS — which has been providing shelter to neglected, abandoned or stray animals since 2001 — was chosen and Aggie went along to offer the charity some cleaning tips.

Heather Mitchell, Spontex PR and marketing executive, said: “We were delighted to be able to help such a worthy charity. The passion and commitment shown by the WARS staff and volunteers has been an inspiration to us. We hope their newly cleaned staff and reception areas help them to continue their great work in a little more comfort.”

Spontex also donated £200 worth of products to help the staff look after the centre in the year to come.

Louise Wright, who works part-time at the charity, said it was "an absolute pleasure" to be chosen.

"We couldn't believe it. We are such a small, independent charity that we didn't expect to be chosen, so it was great," she said.

"We're so thrilled with our clean and we've had so many people come in and say how clean it looks inside. It was so nice to meet Aggie too and for her to take the time to come and meet us. She had a look around at all the animals and asked us a lot of questions about the charity, she was really lovely.

"We all had our pictures taken with Aggie and one of our rescue dogs, Casper, who was thankfully very well behaved."
