A GROUP of local artists have bee-n busy getting creative for a new exhibition in the city.

The Commandery in Worcester is currently hosting the Outrider Exhibition at the historic building in the Sidbury area of the city.

The exhibition features work by a number of local artists based on a collection of beekeeping books left to Hereford Library by Alfred Watkins in 1934.

Mr Watkins invented a light meter called the Watkins Bee Meter and was passionate about beekeeping and its importance.

Artist and curator, Jaime Jackson, said the exhibition has been a success so far.

"It's going really well. We have had probably 1,000 people in to see it so far. Although it is based on history it highlights some very important issues today surrounding the environmental problems faced by bees," he said.

"We have work from several different artists in different mediums on display, ranging from films, to paintings and written art."

The exhibition runs until Tuesday, December 2 and from 10am until 5pm from Monday to Saturday or from 1.30pm until 5pm on Sundays.

A talk given by the artists will be held on December 2 from 11am until 1pm.
