CHILDREN are being encouraged to get active in the outdoors at a Worcestershire visitor attraction.

The Cob House in Wichenford launched its new Kids Run Free event on Saturday.

The event — which is free for children to attend — aims to get children taking part in running and race activities outside.

"We really wanted to encourage children to take part in outdoor exercise and leave behind the Xbox or other electronic devices," Helen Taylor, a partner at the Cob House, said.

"Children from the age of 0 to 16 and of all abilities can take part in races and just have fun while their parents relax in the cafe.

"The launch was great. Councillor Alan Amos, the Mayor of Worcester, and Harriett Baldwin MP joined us for the launch. Although it was raining we still had fun, and kids don't really mind the rain anyway."

Kids Run Free is held on the second and fourth Saturday of the month from 9am.

It is recommended that children are registered online before attending the events at www.kidsrunfree.co.uk.
