FAMILIES across Wyre Forest have been invited meet Santa at a Stourport education centre.

Residents who visit Bishops Wood Centre on Sunday (December 14) between 1.30pm and 4.30pm can experience an outdoor nature trail and grotto in an award-winning dome building, designed for low-cost housing in developing countries.

The Friends of Bishops Wood will be holding the event to promote green living and features children’s activities such as making decorations and gifts using natural and recycled materials.

Santa will giving everyone the gift of a Christmas tale from his elf storytellers, while there will also be a reminder of the real meaning of Christmas in the full sized nativity scene set in the thatched timber Saxon hall turned stable.

Catherine Maguire, chairman of Friends of Bishops Wood, said: “After Black Friday and Cyber Monday we think parents will welcome Green Sunday.

“They can relax and help their children discover the pleasure of making a range of gifts and decorations using simple natural materials and items that would otherwise be thrown away.

“There is no additional charge for the craft activities, nature trail and visit to Santa so this will also help hard-pressed parents.”

Friends of Bishops Wood are inviting donations of £3 per person, with £2 for concessions, and are offering a family ticket for four people at £10.
