A CHOIR of singers from a Worcester business helped to spread the festive cheer among the county's older residents.

More than 25 singers from Sanctuary Group in Worcester visited care homes and retirement schemes in the city on Thursday, performing a number of traditional hymns and contemporary Christmas songs.

They visited Noele Court off Ombersley Road and Warmstry Court in Deansway, Worcester, in the morning before moving onto Beechwood and Hastings residential care homes in Upton-upon-Severn and Malvern.

Choir leader, Maisie Jenkinson, said: “We were honoured to visit the services to perform for our residents and hope they enjoyed the day as much as we did.

“With less than two weeks to go until Christmas, this was a great way to connect with our residents and hopefully spread some festive cheer.”

Beechwood resident, Margaret Brookes, added: “It was wonderful — I’m very keen on music anyway, but it was nice to hear some of my favourites in there, such as Silent Night.

“This was the first live carol performance I’ve seen this year and it was lovely of the choir to travel to Beechwood in person.”
