A MEMORIAL concert is being held at Kidderminster Town Hall to raise funds for the family of Sandra Nowocinska – the woman who tragically lost her life in the Horsefair flat fire.

The MAK Rocks for Sandra event on Friday, February 6, brings together musicians and artists from the town to help raise money which will be donated to her family.

Organised by singer Freddi Smart, who will also be performing as part of musical duo That Friday Feeling, the bill includes an eclectic collection of local talent.

Performers include Mark Pearsall, High Mileage, True Colours, Humdrum Express, Ben Green, Sammy Jo, White Noize and Freddi's daughter Brittany Smart.

Freddi hopes the concert will raise at least £2,000 to help provide support to Sandra’s son and his father Fabian.

“I visit Coffee Lounge regularly and have seen and spoke to Fabian, who works there, on a number of occasions,” she said.

“He is a lovely and very friendly person and to see people come in and offer him donations and support, I felt that I had to do something to help him and his family.

“As an artist myself, I wanted to help in my own way, and as we have some fantastic artists in Kidderminster as well as a rich musical heritage it makes sense to hold a concert.

“Many people moan about Kidderminster and the people here, but they don’t realise how warm, helpful and charitable we really are.”

Tickets cost £8 for downstairs and £10 for upstairs and can be bought from the town hall box office or at Coffee Lounge, located next to Barclays bank in Oxford Street.

Sandra died in hospital on December 1 at 2pm with her family at her side following the blaze, which broke out in her apartment above a shop in Horsefair four days before.

The 22-year-old’s son, aged 5, was also injured in the fire but is “recovering well” and was released from hospital in time for Christmas.

Police launched an investigation into the fire and a 41-year-old man was arrested. He was released on police bail pending further inquiries.

An inquest into Sandra’s death has also been opened and adjourned to a later date.
