THE fiancée of a man killed in a collision in Worcestershire has paid tribute the "family man with a good heart".

Martin Joseph Downs, aged 37, from Kidderminster, died after he was involved in a collision with a Renault Megane travelling towards Wolverley and a Peugeot 407 travelling in the opposite direction on Sunday, January 11 at 6.55pm.

He leaves behind his fiancée, Liz Jones, three daughters Demi aged 16, Caitlin aged nine and Scarlet aged five, and son Sam aged 11.

Miss Jones, who had been engaged to Mr Downs for 12 years, said: “Martin was a grafter whose focus was on supporting his family. He loved us dearly and was very devoted to us and our happiness. He worked as a civil engineer at a construction company and was a perfectionist in everything he did.

"He was a home bird, always building things, and he worked really hard to look after us. He was our hero.

"He could be quiet but he liked socialising and was liked by a lot of people. He was a huge Johnny Cash fan.

"He was my loveable rogue, and overall I’d like him to be remembered as a family man with a good heart and a fantastic sense of humour, always making us laugh every day. Words cannot describe the massive void he has left in all of our lives. We miss and love him so much. I would like to thank all of our family and friends for their support over the past difficult few days.”

West Mercia Police are still appealing for witnesses following the collision which occurred close to the junction with Sion Hill.
