A KIDDERMINSTER care home recently donated £150 to its local hospital as part of the Shuttle-backed Scanner Appeal.

High Habberley House Care Home, in Habberley Road, passed to money over to Kidderminster Hospital to help the upgrading of its CT (computed tomography) scanner to a modern model.

The hospital needed £65,000 for the multiplaner reconstruction software, which will help doctors make a more accurate diagnosis from the images, and £60,000 to cover the cost of building work to replace the old scanner.

David Wase, chairman of Kidderminster Hospital’s League of Friends and vice chairman Pauline Grainger were invited to a coffee morning at the home, in their honour, where some of the homes’ residents and staff were delighted to hand over a cheque.

Mr Wase said: “We were very pleased to hear that High Habberley House had been fundraising to help our scanner appeal and were most appreciative to be invited to the home to accept the cheque.

“Since launching the appeal, the local community have been really supportive and donations, small or large, are all making a difference to the total.”

Sara Morrissey, general manager at High Habberley House, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local causes and charities.

“In the last year we have raised money for Kemp Hospice and Macmillan Cancer as well as Kidderminster League of Friends.”
