VOLUNTEERS looking after a Worcester orchard have been busy working despite the cold.
For the last three years, members of the public have teamed up with Worcester City Council to care for and manage Trotshill Orchard in Warndon Villages.
On Saturday, Heather Bainbridge, community engagement officer with the council, along with volunteers continued work to restore a hedge which runs along the edge of the orchard.
Ms Bainbridge said: "Last year we decided to restore the hedge. We did about half last year and this year have almost completed it. We had to cut the hedge so that people could see over it in to the orchard, and tidy it up. Hedgelaying is a traditional way of creating boundaries and while we do it now more for aesthetic purposes, it is also good for the wildlife. It's a good skill to learn."
