AN afternoon of arts and reflecting on the past proved a great success at one of Worcester's most historic and famous attractions.

The Museum of Royal Worcester hosted the first in a series of art workshops on Tuesday, which it is running in conjunction with Alzheimer’s Society, Worcestershire County Council and the Worcestershire Arts Partnership.

The workshops are part of a new project called Creating the Past, and museum director, Amanda Savidge, said the first workshop was "a great success".

She said: "It was really great. Everyone who came along just sat down in a lively and informal setting to learn more about the porcelain and the skills and techniques associated with it. Henry Sandon joined us and he was telling us about the history of Royal Worcester.

"Royal Worcester has such a huge history and it is so much a part of Worcester life. We are already talking about extending the sessions and we hope more people will join us as the project goes on."

People are welcome to join in the sessions, which run between 2pm and 4pm each Tuesday and tea and cake will be served at 3.30pm.

There is a charge of £3 per person and carers go free of charge.
