EVOKE memories of times gone by and enjoy a romantic steam train journey with your loved one this Valentine’s Day on the Severn Valley Railway.

Take a step back in time as take in the beautiful scenery of the Severn Valley on board the Valentine’s Evening Diner, while enjoying a sumptuous three-course meal in the spectacular surroundings of one of the Railway’s expertly preserved carriages.

You can choose from a selection of starters including smoked salmon or roasted vine tomato soup, before tucking into a main course of beef or turkey. Following your meal, you can indulge in a sharing dessert platter, coffee and chocolate dipped strawberries.

Claire Gibbard, SVR’S marketing and communications manager, said: “As our Golden Jubilee year, 2015 is a big year of celebrations for us here at the Railway, so there’s no better venue to demonstrate your love this Valentine’s Day.

“Our dining carriages are beautifully restored and offer the perfect romantic setting for a delicious three-course meal.”

Severn Valley Railway is also looking forward to injecting more romance into its Golden Jubilee year as it prepares to host a number of marriages.

The Engine House Visitor Centre in Highley, Shropshire, is now fully licensed to host wedding and civil ceremonies and is the only venue in the UK where couples can marry on the footplate of a steam locomotive.

You can take advantage of the SVR’s full wedding package and travel to your ceremony at The Engine House in style aboard a splendidly appointed period observation saloon from Kidderminster.
