A WORCESTER man is to stand trial accused of eight counts of handling stolen goods, eight of fraud by false representation by selling the items to a pawnbroker, and four other charges.

Bablu Miah of Willis Place, St John’s, is also accused of stealing a set of Panasonic telephones worth £119.98 from Sainsbury’s in Swanpool Walk, Worcester, on Wednesday, November 5, last year as well as 11 items from Poundland in Broad Street on Wednesday, December 3.

The 37-year-old appeared at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 9, where he did not enter a plea to any of the charges.

Nor did he enter a plea to charges of obstructing a police officer and going equipped to steal on December 3.

The items Miah is alleged to have handled include a Blu-ray player worth £64.99, a television wort h £149.99 and a number of speakers, all of which were taken from Sainsbury’s.

He will stand trial at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, June 1, and was bailed on the condition he does not enter Sainsbury’s, any shop in Worcester city centre or any second-hand store in the whole of Worcestershire.

All the offences are alleged to have taken place between Monday, November 3 2014, and Wednesday, December 3.
