A TRUE seventies star will be taking to the stage at the Norbury Theatre later this month in the form of singer Clyde Spencer.

Clyde has been singing Gospel music from the age of five, but he rose to fame when he was asked to join The Joneses with his brother George, and they went on to have several number one hits in America.

Clyde joined The Drifters later on, performing on the same stage as The Four Tops, The Temptations and Teddy Prendergast in the heyday of Motown soul and having hits with ‘Up on the Roof’ and ‘Under the Boardwalk’.

Now he lives in the UK and has formed a new band to perform some of the 60s and 70s classics, and he will be performing the music of the Temptations at the Norbury with some well respected band members and friends, as well as a few surprises.

For more information on the show, which will be taking place on Friday, February 27 from 7.30m, contact the Norbury Theatre on 01905 770154, or visit norburytheatre.co.uk.
