MORE than 100 people got hands-on with history at an archaeology day at the Hive.

Roman pottery, bones and other artefacts were all available for people to touch and take a closer look at at the library in Sawmill Walk on Thursday.

Paul Hudson, outreach manager at Worcester archive and archaeology service, said the Love Worcester Archaeology Day was a "great success".

"It was fantastic. We had a lot of people come in during the day to find out more about various artefacts we have here at the Hive," he said.

"People could handle Roman pottery and bones that have been uncovered here at the site, and I think people find that quite amazing that they can actually touch these objects instead of just look at them. We like people to be able to get really hands-on with these items. Once we have analysed them people are able to touch them, because we found more than 20,000 pieces of Roman pottery on the site, so we can spare some pieces for activities like this."
