A THREE-day event bringing a number of public bodies together under one roof has been hailed a "huge success" by the Mayor of Worcester.

Councillor Alan Amos attended the opening of the Love Your Home pop-up shop in the CrownGate shopping centre on Thursday.

The shop saw a number of agencies, including West Mercia Police, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Trading Standards and a number of health and security groups, have stalls in the shop until Saturday afternoon.

"It was fantastic, and really it's something I think it would be great to have all the time," cllr Amos said.

"The agencies were all in one place so that people could get exactly the right information they needed. While I was there I saw many members of the public come in to ask about a problem they are having, or some advice they needed, and they really appreciated being able to talk to someone face to face, rather than over the phone. I would love to see something like this available permanently."

Mike Stephenson, crime prevention design advisor with West Mercia Police, said: "We had around 3,000 people through the door over the three days so it was a really good event. People do appreciate being able to speak to all the different agencies at the same time, and we gave out some useful advice."
