A ROSS-on-Wye man has died aged 20 after a vehicle rolled into a lake at Celtic Manor in South Wales this morning.

Named locally as Ollie Floyd, he was taken from the luxury hotel near Newport to the Royal Gwent Hospital in a critical condition. However, he was later pronounced dead.

Firefighters were called at 7.40am while ambulances were called at 7.53am to reports of a person trapped in a small agricultural sprayer. One person had been released before firefighters arrived.

A statement on the Ross-on-Wye Rugby Club Facebook page said: “People. It's with great sadness that I have to inform you that Ollie Floyd was killed in a tragic accident this morning.

“On your behalf I would like to offer our condolences to Haley, Nick, Tom and all members of the family. A great friend and clubman to us all. RIP my friend. Always a legend never will be forgotten.”

Another 46-year-old man from Ross on Wye who was also in the vehicle was reported to have suffered minor injuries.

Police and Newport Council's health and safety team are currently carrying out inquiries.
