STROKE survivors and their families can drop-in on a new initiative to open up communication about life after a stroke.

The Stroke Association in Worcestershire is launching a new drop-in cafe, Cafasia, which opens on April 3 at the Pavilion in the Park on Tybridge Street.

The cafe will offer a relaxed setting for people to meet and share their experiences

More than 152,000 people have a stroke every year in the UK, and one third will have aphasia, which affects communication.

Joanne Hoy, communication support coordinator for the Stroke Association in Worcestershire, said: “We hope that the Cafasia will help people discover a new place of comfort where they can work on their communication skills and meet other stroke survivors."

Cafasia will run every first and third Friday of the month from 10.30am to midday.
