WOMEN had a chance to make their own tiaras as their fundraising endeavours proved to be quite literally the crowning glory for Worcester's breast unit.

Karen Van Hoff taught women from the Worcester Severn Inner Wheel to make tiaras as part of their fundraising drive for the breast unit at 220 Newtown Road on the site of the city's Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The club have raised £1,500 for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign which seeks to create a one stop unit for patients including rapid efficient assessment and care, treatment in welcoming and private surroundings, facilities that will maximise the skills of specialist teams, care with fewer return visits and good news delivered swiftly, space for complementary therapies and support group meetings, counselling rooms for reflection and discussion and more.

The cheque was handed over to Nicky Underwood from the breast unit by club president Sally Young at her home in Battenhall Road, Worcester.

Mrs Underwood said: "I was made very welcome and was able to look at the lovely jewellery and chat to the Inner Wheel ladies and update them on the status of the campaign after our two recent, exciting bulletins."

She described it as 'fantastic donation'.
