PEOPLE donned a bandana and dined on cake to raise awareness and funds for people battling brain tumours.

Brain Tumour Support held an event at St Richard's Hospice earlier this month, where people wore bandanas as a show of support and baked cakes to raise money for the charity.

The charity's chief executive, Tina Mitchell Skinner, said: "Wearing a bandana and supporting brain tumour patients and families is hugely appreciated by us and all those we help. It makes a huge difference.

"We would like to thank everyone who is standing with us for the campaign and assure them that every penny raised really does make a difference to brain tumour patients and families."

Louise Tully, brain tumour support worker, said: "The group has meetings here at the hospice every other month and social events like picnics and walks in the months in between. Everyone joined in on the day and enjoyed a cuppa and a cake or two with fellow group members. It is great to see first hand the support they get from each other and to see friendships blossom. I feel very privileged to be working with such lovely, inspirational people. I would like to thank everyone for coming along and joining us that day and especially John Horsley, the community life champion at Asda, for kindly donating lots of cakes."
