A POP-UP vintage market held in Alcester High Street raised £300 for a brain injury charity.

Townsfolk were invited to browse and purchase a range of vintage products during the event hosted by Headway Charity Shop.

Staff at the shop, at 33 High Street, spent months collecting hundreds of vintage items, donated by members of the public in preparation for the town's Artisan Market but after hearing the event had been postponed they decided to continue with their own fundraiser.

Deputy manager Rebecca Jeffs said: "We had been appealing for vintage-themed stock donations for months and we were determined not to allow the efforts of our generous donors go to waste.

"The reality of brain injury and the lifelong effects it can cause are often devastating. It was nice to welcome new people to the shop and raise awareness of the important work Headway does to support people affected by brain injury."

Shop manager Rachel Avery said: "We would like to thank everyone who came along and helped make our quirky fundraiser such a success.

"Vintage donations included everything from bean slices and sewing machines to an unusual 'bakelite' brooch valued at £45.

"Our next big focus is volunteer recruitment. Whether you are a survivor of brain injury, know someone who has been affected by brain injury or just want to support a good cause in your free time – everyone is welcome to come along and find out a bit more about Headway."
