PROUD scouts and guides from across Wyre Forest will be marching through the district this weekend to celebrate St George’s Day.

Parades and church services will be held in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley, while collections for various charities will also be held.

Throughout the day, there will be rolling road closures throughout the towns as the procession makes its way along the chosen routes.

The annual Kidderminster Scout & Guide St. George’s Day Parade & Church Services will take place on Sunday (April 26) leaving New Road at 10.30am.

The route they will take will see them travel along Marlborough Street, Prospect Hill, Bromsgrove Street, Coventry Street, Radford Avenue, Blackwell Street, Broad Street, Churchfields, Clensmore Street, Coventry Street, Bromsgrove Street, High Street, Bull Ring, Vicar Street, Oxford Street and finally Bridge Street at around 1pm.

In Bewdley, scouts and guides will be marching from Riverside to St Anne’s Church for a St George’s Day service, which will involve all members renewing the promise they made on investiture.

Their route will see them travel along Riverside North, Bewdley Bridge, Load Street and Park Lane between 10.40am and 11am before making the return journey between 11.55am and 12.15pm.

And in Stourport, scouts and guides will parade from Memorial Park to the Civic Hall for a service similar to the one being held in Bewdley.

Their route will see them march through Park Avenue, Lickhill Road, Moorhall Lane, New Street and the entrance to The Civic in Martins Way between 2.30pm and 3pm. The return journey from 3.45pm and 4.10pm will see them march through Martin’s Way, New Street, High Street, Lombard Street, Bewdley Road and Park Avenue.
