A MISS Black Country contestant is organising a charity event at an Oldbury bar next Saturday (May 2) to raise hundreds of pounds for Beauty with a Purpose.
Leah Ratcliffe, aged 17, from Halesowen, is running the event at Masons Micro Bar, Hagley Road West, for the charity which supports sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.
The music performance student from Stourbridge College said there will be music and a raffle and the chance for people to have a £25 photographic session for five photos, with all proceeds going to the charity.
Friend Brenden Teague, aged 18, is collecting sponsors for a full body wax which he will have on the day.
Leah, of Nimmings Road, who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, said she was surprised to win through to the Miss Black Country final which will be held on Sunday May 24.
“I have bright blue hair and I’m a bit alternative, so I was surprised to get through,” she said.
But she said the contest was not looking for a traditional beauty queen and was more charity and fundraising based.
