A DROITWICH man who went “completely off the rails” after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour has admitted harassing his ex-partner.

Stephen Clarke, of Priory Gardens, appeared at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 1, where he admitted carrying out the harassment between Tuesday, March 31 and Thursday, April 2.

The court heard the couple ended their relationship in February, the same day as the 36-year-old was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

Prosecutor Owen Beale told the court Clarke, who has been given up to four months to live, had sent a number of Facebook messages to the woman asking for details of her new partner and later tried to set up a “honey trap” for him.

Clarke had also left disparaging messages on the Facebook page of the woman’s employer, Mr Beale said.

Jo Outhwaite, defending, said her client had “gone completely of f the rails” after his diagnosis, but greatly regretted his actions.

“This is a gentleman who is in a pretty bad way and just wants this over and done with,” he said.

Deputy District Judge Jim Tindall said in the circumstances he felt it would be unrealistic to impose any sentence other than a conditional discharge and bailed Clarke pending a pre-sentence report to return to the court for sentencing on Friday, May 15.
