STOURBRIDGE people are being invited to improve their lifestyle by taking part in a free military fitness session in Stevens Park.

British Military Fitness (BMF), a national outdoor fitness group, is holding the session at the Wollescote park on Saturday, May 30, to celebrate National Outdoor Fitness Day.

Now in its second year, National Outdoor Fitness Day is designed to raise awareness of the benefits of outdoor exercise and to encourage people of all ages to enjoy physical activity in the fresh air.

BMF, which hosts 400 classes a week since it was established in 1999, is holding the free sessions at 90 parks around the country.

Harry Sowerby, BMF managing director, said he is hoping this year’s National Outdoor Fitness Day will encourage even more people in Stourbridge to reap the benefits of outdoor exercise.

He said: “People often associate exercise with slogging away in a stuffy gym, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

“There are so many fun ways to get involved in exercise in the great outdoors, whether that’s going on a walk around the park, riding a bike or taking part in an outdoor exercise.

“I’m hoping that on this year’s National Outdoor Fitness Day, more people will come and join us for a fun fitness session outdoors.”
