THEY say that love often comes along when you least expect it.

This saying proved true for one county couple, who tied the knot yesterday aged 86 and 75.

Joyce and David Weeks said "I do" at Malvern Registry Office yesterday afternoon surrounded by a close group of friends and relatives.

The pair, who have both been married before and now live together in Upper Welland, didn't think they would find love again, but proved that it's never too late.

"I met David a few years ago while out walking the dog and we got to know each other through bowls," Mrs Weeks, aged 86, said.

"I lost my husband in 2011 and didn't expect to fall in love with anyone again, let alone ever marry again.

"But last summer David knocked on the door and asked if I would like to go out for a meal. I agreed, and we had a lovely meal. He then asked if he could court me, I said yes and it's gone from there."

Mrs Weeks then went to visit her sister in London for ten days, and her new boyfriend found he missed her so much that as soon as she returned he got down on one knee.

"I couldn't believe it, but I didn't hesitate in saying yes. I'm just very glad we found each other, and we are very much in love," Mrs Weeks said.

The couple enjoyed a meal at the Marlbank Inn after the wedding, and will honeymoon in the Isle of Wight for five days.

Mrs Weeks' daughter, Denny, said the pair were "inspirational".

"I'm very happy for them both. After my dad died, mum would just sit in our conservatory not wanting to do anything. But since David has come along she is out and about enjoying life and doing things. It just goes to show that it's never too late to find love and be happy. It's amazing and they are both very inspiring."
