HUNDREDS of people made the most of the bank holiday sun to enjoy good food and drink in Malvern.

The Great Malvern Food Festival drew in crowds throughout the day yesterday as people browsed the more than 60 stalls based near Malvern Priory.

The event, now in its fifth year, saw local producers display their wares and various cookery demonstrations take place.

Jacek Koziol, the co-owner of Old Granary Pierogi, said the festival was so good last year they decided to come back.

"Last year we took part in the Great Malvern Food Festival as our first ever festival, as we usually just had a market stall in Hereford," he said.

"It was absolutely brilliant so we decided to come back. We were really busy and today is shaping up to be similar. The good weather always helps."

A variety of stalls meant there was something for everyone, from cake and chocolate, to hot dogs, burgers, crepes, sausage rolls, cheese, wines, ales, ciders and more, all locally produced.

Susan Hamblin, from the Three Talents Cakery, based in Ledbury, said: "We have done this festival before and it has been great before. Today has been really busy, we had sold a number of things by 10am. We've always been really lucky with the weather so I'm thankful for that. It has always been great with a really nice atmosphere and vibe about it."

Tony Lomas came down from the Forest of Dean to enjoy the festival.

He said: "I came last year and I remember it being good. This year it's great, and I'm just so impressed with the variety of stalls. It's dangerous though because you want to eat all of it. The range of food and drink is amazing. It's interesting to see foods you would typically see at a market in somewhere like France on sale in Malvern, it's really good for the area and nice to see it so busy."
