A WOMAN has died after being struck by a train at Worcester.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to the rail line close to Kay’s crossing, Worcester, on Friday, June 5, to reports of a person struck by a train.

“The call came into police shortly before 9.30am.

“Officers attended alongside colleagues from the ambulance service. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are now working to identify the woman and inform her family.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Trains are  now running as normal, a First Great Western Spokesperson confirmed.

He said there were alterations to services between Worcester Foregate Street and Great Malvern 'following a person hit by a train'.

He added: "All lines have now reopened. Train services running through these stations are returning to normal but some services may still be delayed by up to 15 mins or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 12.30pm."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed they were called to the railway line at Rushwick just after 9.25am.

The service sent two advanced community paramedics in rapid response vehicles, a paramedic area support officer in a rapid response vehicle, members of the Hazardous Area Response Team and an ambulance crew.

The spokesman said: spokesman said: “Following a search of the line, the body of a woman was found and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

"The driver of the train and its passengers were all checked over at the scene and were all uninjured.”
