MUSIC fans basked in the Sunday sunshine to watch a host of bands perform at Minifest.

Following in the fine form of previous years, Minifest was blessed with sun on the longest day of the year.

Hundreds flocked to Worcester's Cripplegate Park to watch local bands play live and enjoy various activities and entertainment that ran throughout the day.

Headliners Done By Sunrise, who have previously supported One Direction, Little Mix and JLS, took to the stage to perform their catchy indie pop tunes along side Pershore-based newcomers Chase the Deer.

Abby Inez, who reached number seven behind Ed Sheeran in the iTunes singer-songwriter charts, also performed alongside a number of other bands.

Maisie Cummings, from Dines Green, said she had been looking forward to Minifest for a while.

"I've been twice before and both times I've had so much fun," the Christopher Whitehead Language College student said.

"It usually gets really quite busy and has a really lively and fun atmosphere. The bands are always really good, it's just a great event. And the weather has been lovely too."

People could also browse stalls, play mini-golf and visit charity stalls.

Abi Greenbrook, from St John's, said it was her first time at the festival.

"I had heard about it and thought it sounded really good. It's nice to see local bands play and they all sound really good," she said.

Behind the scenes, Youthcomm Radio's Muff Murfin, Jamie MacDonald and Harrison Bennett have been busy organising this year's event.

Youthcomm presenter and DJ, Liam Cash, said it was a "fantastic event".

"The atmosphere was great, and we really had something for all the family. It was another great turn out.

"We just want to support local live music and let people enjoy themselves."

David Clark, from the Warndon area of Worcester, said: "It has been a really good event. I'll definitely come again. We are lucky in this county because we get to see a lot of support for local bands and live music as a whole. I think it's really important people come out to events like this."
