THOUSANDS enjoyed a flutter and a bit of fun at Worcester Racecourse today.

People came from all around the county and beyond to watch the racing and take part in activities at the Family Fun Day on Pitchcroft.

Children could play on bouncy castles and fairground stalls and games while adults could enjoy a range of food and drink, relax in the sun or watch the horse racing at the grounds.

This event is one of a number of family fun days hosted by the racecourse, and this event was helping to raise money for local charity, Leukaemia CARE.

Kayla Maryon, communications manager with the Blackpole-based charity, said: "This is the first of three events we are doing with Arena Racing Company, who are supporting us this year as a corporate partnership.

"It has been a really, really good day. It's exciting to see the races and it's nice to see everyone enjoying themselves.

"It's also fantastic for us, because events like this mean we can meet new people who might not know about the work we do, and we get to raise awareness generally with people who may have heard about us but may want to find out more."

Michelle Titley travelled from Tipton to enjoy the races.

"I usually go to Royal Ascot but today we decided to come to Worcester and it's been a fantastic event. I'm here with my two children and they are really enjoy the games, and the weather is great for it."

Rhys Smith, from Warndon, was at the fun day with his wife and two children.

He said: "I'm not really in to racing but despite that I'm having a really good day. There is so much here for the children. They can just go and play the games, or have a go riding the mechanical horses or play around on the bouncy castle. It's a really good spread of things for them to do and I would definitely like to come again in the future."
