NEWLYWEDS who tie the knot abroad can take advantage of a special service offered by Dudley’s Register Office.

Registrars at Priory Hall can conduct renewal ceremonies so that family and friends who were unable to attend the marriage can join in the celebrations.

Dudley Councillor Judy Foster, cabinet member for corporate and customer services, said: “Renewal of marriage vows is not just for people who been married for years. It is also a way for people who have their wedding abroad to celebrate with absent family and friends.

“Dudley’s Register Office can arrange ceremonies any day of the week and, as well as the renewal of the marriage vows, the event can feature everything from re-dedication of rings to speeches by the best man.

“Although the ceremonies have no legal effect, it is a lovely way for loved ones to take part in this important life event.”

The service is one of the many offered by the register office at its historic 19th century building in the grounds of Priory Park.
