A COURT was told how a Worcester man was so upset when his partner left him that he went to her house and threatened to harm himself.

Gordon Beauchamp of Grisedale Drive, Warndon, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday, where he admitted damaging a window of a Land Rover Freelander belonging to his ex-partner Michelle Hubbard on Wednesday, May 20, as well as possessing a knife in a public place.

The court was told the two had been in a relationship for about two years, but had split up about eight weeks before the offences were committed.

Miss Hubbard had told police the 32-year-old had driven his work van to her home and demanded to see her, and when she asked him to leave he held an eight-inch knife against his chest and threatened to hurt himself.

Mark Sheward, mitigating, told the court Beauchamp had taken the break-up “very hard” and had become very depressed.

He was handed a 12-month restraining order banning him from contacting either his former partner or her mother, who was at the house when he arrived on May 20, as well as a community order ordering him to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.

Beauchamp was also ordered to pay £75 compensation to Miss Hubbard to cover the damage to her window, a £150 court charge, £80 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
