WHILE you may not recognise their faces, you may recognise the music of a Malvern-based band.

White Feather Collective formed just over a year ago after all meeting in Hatfield, London.

After jamming together for the first time they quickly went on to write and record around 20 tracks, but it was a solid handful of songs that caught the attention of a French company which has now used one of the band's songs on an advert.

WIKO Mobile used the track 'Come On and Get Down' on their advert, which has been shown on television around the UK.

Drummer Chris Reynolds, who plays alongside fellow Malvern man, guitarist Will Turner, bassist Ruaridh MacPhee and frontman Josh Lambe, said the band is "thrilled" with how things are moving.

Both studied at the Chase Technology College in Malvern, where their love of music grew, and now Mr Reynolds said things are moving forwards quickly.

"It's all going so well for us," Mr Reynolds, who describes the bands music as 'psychedelic surf rock' said.

"We were just about to play a gig in Soho when we got the email saying WIKO really liked our song and wanted to use it. Our music is available on a website called Band Camp so we think they must have been trawling through that and came across our music.

"We couldn't believe it. We just all had big smiles on our faces, had a celebratory gulp of beer, then we went on stage and performed at what turned out to be a fantastic gig. It was supposed to be a sit-down gig but everyone threw their chairs to the side and danced."

White Feather Collective have also had a live set recorded and aired on Glasgow music channel STV, as both Josh and Ruaridh are from Scotland.

The band has recorded an EP and is focussing on playing live, but the 23-year-old said they have had a number of managed offers.

"We are weighing up what our best options could be and who can offer us what. If we decide the offers aren't right for us at this moment then we will just keep doing what we're doing because it seems to be working."
