A CYCLIST had to be taken to hospital after he crashed into a tree in woodland near Stourbridge this afternoon.
West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the location near Hyperion Road just after 5pm and sent an ambulance and the Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.
An ambulance service spokesman said: “Crews responded to an incident in Stourbridge involving a cyclist and tree.
“A man in his twenties was treated for facial and shoulder injuries.
"The patient was immobilised and given pain relief before being conveyed from the woodland on the specialist ‘polaris’ stretcher vehicle."
The patient was taken by ambulance to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley for further assessment and treatment. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
