A MAN has been found dead at a pub in Worcester.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the Lyppard Grange pub in Ankerage Green, Warndon Villages, on Friday, July 17 at 7.30pm.

When emergency services arrived they found the body of a man, named locally as Simon Jennings.

Mr Jennings was the husband of the pub's manager, Joanna, who has run the pub for a number of years.

A spokesman for Sizzling Pubs, the company which owns the pub, said: "Our thoughts are very much with the Jennings family following the sad news. We respect the family’s request for privacy at this difficult time.”

An inquest is due to be opened shortly.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We were called at 7:33pm on Friday, July 17. A man was found deceased and the death is not being treated as suspicious. This has now been passed over to the coroner."

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that an ambulance and a first responder paramedic attended the scene but that nothing could be done and that the man was pronounced dead.

The pub is open for business.
