A DOCTOR'S surgery in a village could be expanding to meet the demands of the community.
Plans have been submitted by Dr Ritesh Dua for additional consulting rooms and an enlarged waiting room at Weobley Medical Surgery.
Planning documents sent to Herefordshire Council say: "This application will enable these vital service to continue to meet current and future health demands of the community."
At present the surgery has 5,650 patients on its roll, with the application making clear this number is "gradually increasing as more dwellings are constructed in the catchment area".
The surgery says this number will grow by a further 150 to 200 patients over the next few years.
The planning statement continues: "The practice supports and provides practical training for doctors and nurses who wish to work in General Practice by providing placements for trainees.
"The additional facilities as proposed will enable the continuation of this training while providing a continually improving service to the local community.
"These proposals would provide the practice the necessary flexibility to meet the challenges facing General Medical Practice over the coming years."
