A DRUNKEN woman who was defending her brother's honour beat up staff at a Kidderminster pub, a court heard.

Katie Wadsworth assaulted four of the staff at The Penny Black pub, in Bull Ring, on June 30, in an argument about her brother's ex-partner.

Owen Beale, prosecuting, said the 30-year-old, who was drunk at the time of the incident, was known to the bar staff because her brother had a relationship with one of them.

He said: "All four victims are employees at The Penny Black pub.

"She [Wadsworth] is known to the bar staff because, as I understand it, her brother used to go out with someone from there.

"She ordered a pint of Stella and then she was heard to say 'that's the one that was [having sex with] my brother's girlfriend'.

"When he turned to face her, she tripped him up and threw the pint of Stella over him."

After the attack on Kyle Lockley, who allegedly had a relationship with Wadsworth's brother's ex-girlfriend after him, a brawl then ensued as other members of the staffing team tried to calm Wadsworth and escort her from the building, but instead she went into the pub's kitchen still holding her empty glass waving it around as she shouted.

She hit Katie Tooth backhanded across the face before Ricky Davies held her back from further attacks as pub manager Jordan Wilson was informed of the situation and told her to leave the pub.

The court was told she was escorted off the premises but she went back in to carry on the assaults on the staff.

"She [Wadsworth] was very drunk and she kept trying to hit staff but she kept missing and fell on the floor," Mr Beale added.

In interview, the defendant said she had been to a friend's funeral that day and was very drunk and could not remember hitting or kicking anyone, but she said she was "lashing out" so she accepted it.

In mitigation, Rob Macrory said when Wadsworth saw the CCTV footage of her actions, she appeared to be quite surprised and embarrassed.

Wadsworth, of Clent Avenue, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to assaulting Kyle Lockley, Jordan WIlson, Katie Tooth, and Ricky Davies, when she appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, July 23.

Stephen Gillespie, chairman of the magistrates, adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports to be completed. Wadsworth is due back before the court for sentencing on August 13. She was granted bail on the conditions she does not enter the pub and does not contact the four victims.
