A CHARITY'S support service for children with disabilities is looking to expand by recruiting extra support workers.

Fifteen more support workers and volunteers will be taken on by Barnardo's for their Worcestershire Community Short Break service.

It provides children with disabilities and their families with regular community-based planned short break service.

Children have the opportunity to enjoy time away from home making new friends and try new activities such as cinema, park or bowling.

Many of the children have learning disabilities or are on the autistic spectrum while some children with physical disabilities or health needs require additional help with their care.

Angela Ayliffe, from Barnardo's Worcestershire Community Short Breaks service, said: "For those children and young people who use our service they really do enjoy their time with their support worker or volunteer, the children are supported to do the enjoyable things that they like to do when out.

"Often our children are able to develop confidence and independence skills with the support and guidance of our workers.

"Equally parents know that their children are being cared for safely by our staff members."
