AN elected member of the UK Youth Parliament (MYP) from Redditch will be taking part in the largest consultation of young people in the country.
The ballot asks young people what issues matter to them with the outcome determining what is discussed by the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) in House of Commons during November.
Glen Cordha, aged 16, from St Augustine’s Catholic High School is running a ballot alongside his fellow Worcestershire MYP Joseph Webster, also 16, from Wyre Forest and together they have pledged to get at least 7,000 ballots.
The survey went live on Wednesday, August 12 and now local schools, colleges and youth clubs are being asked to take part.
Glen said: "I was really privileged to be involved in the annual sitting in Exeter, along with meeting many different people all around the country, it was refreshing and motivating.
"I believe it is crucial to reach our target of 7,000 make your mark ballots so we can maximise our chances of listening to as many young people in our constituency as possible. I firmly believe that with more young people participating in these consultations, they can get involved in politics along with enforcing motions ranging from votes for people aged 16 or exam resits."
Voting is a key stage in the democratic process as it allows the UK Youth Parliament to campaign on matters close to this generation of young people.
