NURSES are to be offered a £1,000 'golden hello' to join Wye Valley NHS Trust.

It is the first time the trust is offering the cash as part of a recruitment campaign and also comes with a relocation package, rotational posts, a comprehensive education, development and support package and a number of other benefits.

The trust said the campaign has been launched to recruit the best qualified nurses for its hospitals across the county, with an open day lined up for September 19.

It takes place between 10am and 1pm at Hereford County Hospital and is aimed at newly-qualified nurses, those who have the left profession, and those wanting to regain registration.

The trust said it has a number of exciting opportunities for experienced and newly qualified nurses across Herefordshire.

Visitors to the open day will have the chance to spend time with the nursing teams and visit exhibition stands, as well as the wards and departments where successful candidates could be working.

Wye Valley NHS Trust is one of a small number of trusts in the country that provides acute and community healthcare, so it can offer a variety of opportunities and progression for qualified nurses.

Anna Llewellin, lead nurse with Wye Valley NHS Trust, said: "It’s a very friendly trust, which strives to provide staff development opportunities in order to enhance the quality of care it delivers to patients.

“If you are a qualified nurse, have not worked in a hospital for some time but are still registered, or your registration has lapsed, we would like to hear from you.”

Paul Hooton, deputy director of nursing at Wye Valley NHS Trust, added that the trust was opening its doors to tempt talented nurses from around the UK to Herefordshire.

“We need more caring and compassionate nurses to join our workforce to help build on the high quality care we aim to provide for every patient,” he said.

“We are looking to appoint new nursing staff as soon as possible and candidates will be offered an interview before the end of September. We can help you reach your full potential and make a real difference to patient care.”

Anyone interested in attending the open day should call 01432 355444 ext 5824 or email Charlene.abberley@wvt.nhs.uk by September 16.
