IT may not be such a bad thing to be told your face looks like the back of a bus — if you live in Droitwich.

Sleek and polished to perfection, the Mercedes Tourismo coach owned by Mystic Isle coach holidays, recently scooped a prestigious award at the King Long Showbus International Awards 2015.

The awards ceremony was held on September 20 at Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire and Kevin Legg, who owns the company with his wife, Jennifer, said he was "very pleased" to see his coach named Showbus Best Vehicle 2000-2009.

"It's great and we are very pleased. The coach driver, Mark Harper, was ecstatic.

"We think it's something to really be proud of.

"The awards are really for bus and coach geeks and you see a wide variety of fascinating vehicles, such as vintage buses and coaches. It's fantastic to win our category. There were around 600 coaches in the whole show, and judges really loved the appearance of our coach. The coach is actually a favourite with our passengers and we are always getting comments about it. It's our latest coach."

Mr and Mrs Legg first set up the company, which is based in Friar Street in Droitwich, in 1997.

"We organise coach holidays all around the UK," he said.

"Before we set up the company, my wife and I were both working for Midland Red bus company, who were a major company. But we were both made redundant, and it seemed to make sense that we pick up where we left off and start up our own coach holidays company.

"I used to write the holiday brochures for Midland Red so we already had some idea about how the business should work."

As well as getting frequent comments on the coach, Mr Legg said he is often asked about the name of the company.

"Mystic Isle sounds very romantic and people like the name. Mystic Isle can be wherever you want it to be, an ideal destination. But in fact there used to be a racehorse called Mystic Isle. I liked the name so I decided to use it for the company."
