SEVERN Trent is inviting local residents in the Rainbow Hill area of Worcester to a drop-in session to hear more about plans to make water supplies in the area more reliable.

The work is part of a £500,000 investment the company is making across the city this year.

Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, said: “To make sure the water pipes in Rainbow Hill continue to serve the community for years to come, we need to replace over one and a half miles of pipes in the area. We’re keen to tell the local community all about our plans, so we’re holding a drop-in session on Thursday, October 1 at the Rainbow Hill Centre, Astwood Road, Worcester, between 3pm and 7pm.

“We’d encourage local people to come along, meet the team and learn more about our work, but to also give their views. This work could be tricky, and while we think we’ve found the best way of laying the pipes with the minimum impact, we’re hoping that by talking to the community, they’ll help us to find those little gems of information which can make a huge difference to our plans.”

Severn Trent’s contract partner, Amey, plan to start laying the new pipes in late October.

There will need to be a series of road closures and traffic lights set up.
