WHEN tasked with creating a hat to mark the Queen's reign, two schoolchildren put their thinking caps on.
With help from their mother, Sam Hughes, Rebecca and Edward Amado-Maese crafted these creative hats in time for the event marking Queen Elizabeth II becoming the UK's longest reigning monarch at Pitmaston Primary School in St John's on Friday.
Mrs Hughes said: "Edward, who is five, went with a red post box because all posts boxes erected during Queen Elizabeth II's reign have E II R on them. Rebecca, aged eight, went with the Elizabeth tower — also known as Big Ben.
"I'm a bit mad and go a little over the top when creating the kids' costumes for school, but they help too — they love paper mâché.
"When they came home from school they said they felt "famous". They love projects like this because it lets them use their imagination."
