A popular Malvern market has celebrate 60 years of trading in the town.

To mark the diamond anniversary of Malvern's County Market, which has been continually trading for the past 60 years, the market staged a free prize draw for customers.

Tickets were given to customers throughout October on the Fridays the market is in operation at the Lyttelton Rooms in Church Street.

The town’s mayor, Councillor Julian l’Anson, was on hand to make the draw last week from more than 200 entries, with local shopper Catherine Lewis winning the bumper hamper of Country Market goods which included fresh home-grown fruit and vegetables, as well as cakes and savouries, preserves, local honey and craftwork.

Market manager, Margaret Ainscough, said: "The market is looking forward to many more years of trading and also to welcoming regular and new customers, especially in the run-up to Christmas."

The market is held every Friday from 9am to 12.15pm and there will be a special Christmas Market on the day of Malvern’s Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday, November 28.
