A TENACIOUS terrier who may have been used in badger baiting is hoping Friday 13 will prove to be his lucky day.

Dogs Trust Evesham is appealing to local dog lovers to help find a home for Ralph, who has been overlooked by hundreds of potential owners.

Ralph didn’t have the best start in life after he came to the Rehoming Centre as a stray as he was missing his bottom lip — an injury which may have been caused by a badger as staff suspect he was used in badger baiting.

Despite his ordeal, the three-year-old terrier is a sweet natured boy who lives life to the full and is able to eat and drink without difficultly.

He has been at Dogs Trust for more than a month and despite seeing plenty of his furry counterparts find loving home, no one has shown any interest in Ralph.

Dogs Trust Evesham assistant manager, Emma Bragginton, said: “We take in hundreds of dogs of all shapes and sizes but it is still hard to see lovely dogs like Ralph being overlooked. It’s such a shame to think that after his tough start in life and all he has been through he is unable to find the loving home he deserves.

"Some potential adopters may be put off by dogs that have a slight health problem or appear different, so even with his cute and unique looks he is still passed by. All the staff at the centre have grown very fond of this sweet natured boy, but we would all love nothing more than to see him go home with a patient owner who will help him settle in, continue his training and make him part of a loving family. We are really hoping that this typically unlucky day turns out to be lucky for Ralph after his run of bad luck. He is a super dog who would make a fantastic pet in the right home.”
