WORCESTER'S new Lidl store will be the country's third 'Lidl of the Future'.
On Thursday, Lidl opened the first of its 'Lidl of the Future' stores in Rushden, Northamptonshire, and the supermarket has now confirmed that the new store on Windermere Drive in Warndon will be the third of its type.
The new store is set to open its doors in January, and customers can expect a state-of-the-art, glass fronted design.
Each of these new stores costs more than £2million to build.
Lidl UK’s board director of Property and Expansion, Ingo Fischer, said: “We are extremely excited about our brand new concept store, which represents the future of Lidl UK. This is yet another milestone for us in providing the infrastructure needed to manage our increasing market share and the expectations of our growing and incredibly valued customer base who have, quite rightfully, come to expect the very best of us.
“Along with its cutting edge design, our ‘Lidl of the Future’ concept will also go a step further to streamline processes and maximise efficiency. This forms a key part of our business model, which enables us to keep prices low and the quality of our products high."
Stores will boast wider aisles, longer tills, restrooms and baby changing facilities.
The stores will also utilises the latest energy efficient technologies to reduce its environmental impact.
The new look store has been compared to upmarket supermarket Waitrose.
Work is continuing on Worcester's first Waitrose store, which is being build on London Road.
